Target and Lowe's

We went to Lowe's today to get a board to fix our fence. I also brought a long my 2 - $3/1 Green works Laundry detergent coupons. They had 46oz Green works original scent liquid laundry detergent on clearance for $4.97. So I bought two and got them for $1.97 ea with coupons :). Can't beat that for laundry detergent. Ok so maybe you can, but I have yet to do so.

The laundry detergent is in this picture, as well as everything I scored at Target today. Not my best deal, I don't think, but not too shabby either.

Old Deal, but I love it!

So remember in my first post, I said that I love watching a $40 bill go down to $14. Well this is the deal I was referring to when I said that! I went to Target with my kids in tow, because... I am addicted at getting deals! Like I've stated recently, I am shopping... A LOT.

So here was the deal in this picture:

Lesson 1: Keep your receipts!!!

I've NEVER been good at keeping up with my receipts. However, since becoming addicted to this coupon bargain hunt game, I've been keeping them all. Why do you ask, well there are a few reasons. You never know when another rebate will come up, either cash back if you buy participating items between so and so dates, or a rebate for a coupon book - which I need to send off for! Another reason, is because... well... I am kind of embarrassed to admit this, but I like looking at how much I saved, over and over again! Don't laugh, okay okay, you can if you would like.

The main reason to keep your receipts besides the obvious of taking something back without a hassle, is they may come up on sale within your 90 days!! This just happened to me.

A couple of weeks ago, my husband and I were shopping for Easter basket stuff for our children. We came across Madagascar and Madagascar 2 on sale at Target for $9.99 ea. So we got them to fill the Easter basket, because they love movies, and we can never have enough.

Well guess what?! This week the same movies are on sale for $6.99. So I found my receipt that I kept (woo hoo), and drove to Target. I got $6.50 back and I did this deal.
DSC_0050
- Snow White on sale for $13.99 (used a $3/1 Disney movie Target.com coupon) = $10.99
- 4 Cream of Campbell's soups on sale for 4 for $3 (used a $1/3 coupon) = $2.00
- Right Guard deodorant on sale for $3.00 (used a $1.50/1 coupon) = $ 1.50
Total was $15.31 with taxes
Paid them $6 in cash that I got back from Madagascar movies
Paid $9.31

Not my best deal, but not so shabby because the Snow White movie is usually $19.99! My point in this post is to always keep your receipts until it's too late to take something back. If it goes on sale and it's not used, then take it back, and get the sales price!

A blog is born

Over the past couple of weeks I've been clipping coupons. To my astonishment, I've become quiet obsessed with it. Well, not really the clipping coupons part, but the shopping part. You know, the part where your total once was $40 and then it drops to $14 after coupons! Before coupons came into my life a few short weeks ago, I would have paid that $40 and I would go home, unload the one bag of items, and become depressed. I would think to myself - why on earth did I just spend $40 on a few items?! I would then be too lazy to take anything back. After coupons came into my life, that $40 comes to $14 total, and it's not such a big shock!

It has become ADDICTING. I've always loved to shop yes, but never really had the money to do so. Now that I have my binder full of coupons, I get to shop, a lot. I spend less then I ever have before, and I am loving every second of it.

This is the blog that I have started to keep my addiction under control, to share tips and tricks to whoever is reading this, to post my deals that I find, and to share with you all my main goal in this addiction. That would be to save money for the debt we owe. We would love to get out of debt using a modified version of the Dave Ramsey plan.

In a couple of years I plan to be debt free, so please come join me in our story of spending less to achieve this goal.
